High on Grills

High on Grills is a mock up for a restaurant aimed at launching a new dining concept in Chennai.

Limited on budget and time, the new space, having taken over from a previous restaurant smartly uses the existing floor, false ceiling and many other details in a repurposed fashion, including the furniture. The challenge in the design was to bring the new aesthetic and concept together, with the efficient use of materials and finishes.

Lines and patterns form a major part of the design language – from the innovative use of laminates in the backrest of the seating, brass lines on the walls and tables, to the patterns and metal frame on the family seating table. The notepad accent wall in the restaurant lobby gives a sneak peek into the dining experience as one enters the space.
